Dignity, Reverence, Respect: U.S. Army Reserve Mortuary Affairs specialists care for America's fallen heroes
Simulated human remains are sealed in a Human Remains Pouch at a Mortuary Affairs Collection Point to moved to the Theater Mortuary Affairs Evacuation Point during Mortuary Affairs Exercise 16-02, July 22, at Fort Pickett, Va. There is a constant chain of custody of human remains and personal effects with checks and rechecks all along the way even in an exercise environment. MAX 16-02 included all six U.S. Army Reserve Mortuary Affairs units performing search and recovery missions and operating Mortuary Affairs Collection Points and a Theater Mortuary Evacuation Point. The units were evaluated by active-duty mortuary affairs personnel from nearby Fort Lee, Va. (U.S. Army photo by Timothy L. Hale)(Released)
