Dignity, Reverence, Respect: U.S. Army Reserve Mortuary Affairs specialists care for America's fallen heroes
Pfc. Shawn DeVera, with the U.S. Army Reserve's 962nd Quartermaster Company (Mortuary Affairs) reads off the number on the human remains pouch tag, one final time during Mortuary Affairs Exercise 16-02, July 22, at Fort Pickett, Va. There is a constant chain of custody of human remains and personal effects with checks and rechecks all along the way even in an exercise environment. MAX 16-02 included all six U.S. Army Reserve Mortuary Affairs units performing search and recovery missions and operating Mortuary Affairs Collection Points and a Theater Mortuary Evacuation Point. The units were evaluated by active-duty mortuary affairs personnel from nearby Fort Lee, Va. (U.S. Army photo by Timothy L. Hale)(Released)
