Army Reserve attorney receives prestigious ABA award
Capt. Tanya Mayes, an administrative law and military justice attorney assigned to the 80th Training Command, addresses the audience during a ceremony where she received the 2015 American Bar Association’s Legal Assistance for Military Personnel Distinguished Service Award. Retired Navy Captain Dwain Alexander, (seated left) a member of the ABA LAMP committee, presented Mayes with the award at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center June 10, 2016. Mayes was recognized for leading an effort to establish a free legal assistance clinic for military veterans after she learned that a significant number of patients needed assistance. Seated next to Alexander is Col. Christopher Headrick, the 80th Training Command’s Staff Judge Advocate.
