Organizations/Clubs/Philanthropies: Bernet is the Founder of the San Diego Army Advisory Council, a California Corporation and 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and Chairman of the West Point Admissions Project and Cadet Command Scholarship Program. Bernet has served as Board Chair of Hillcrest Academy, a private – nonfaith based K-8 school and continues to serve a variety of organizations, clubs or philanthropic efforts including: Fleet Week San Diego, Association of the United States Army (AUSA); Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito (BGSDTO); Sharp Healthcare Foundation; Salute to Heroes; San Diego Police Officers Association; Widows & Orphans Fund (SDPD); Sports, Training, Athletics, Recreation/Police Athletic League (STARPAL); Interfaith Community Services; Merle's Place – A Homeless Veterans Shelter; Epilepsy Foundation; Leukemia, Lymphoma Society (LLS); Grossmont Union High School District and Valley Center-Pauma Unified School District.

Army Reserve Ambassador James Bernet was born in Cleveland, Ohio and his family moved to Connecticut to begin its family business, operating truck stops and travel centers in Connecticut, Maryland & Florida. Bernet set the Guinness World Record in 2008 for the largest wheelchair tennis tournament benefiting Sharp Rehabilitation Hospital. Bernet advocates for young people encouraging them to make good choices by surrounding themselves with good people and becoming involved in their communities. Bernet strives to create options for young people to continue their education and serve their country.
