Ambassador Jeffrey Jacobs, a retired Major General, served honorably in the Army Reserve for 35 years before retiring from military service in 2014. He served for nine years as a general officer in positions of increasing responsibility, including Commanding General of the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne), Contingency Command Post, U.S. Army North and the 354th Civil Affairs Brigade, Baghdad, Iraq and Riverdale, Maryland. He also has twenty-seven years of varied legal experience in state government and private law practice.
Ambassador Jacobs graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1979 and earned his Juris Doctorate (Cum Laude) from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1990.
In December of 2019, Ambassador Jacobs was appointed by LTG Charles D, Luckey, Chief of the Army Reserve, to his first term as an Army Reserve Ambassador for South Carolina.
