Brig. Gen. Jeffrey W. Jurasek assumed command of the 1st Mission Support Command on Aug. 24, 2019. He received his commission as an Ordnance officer after graduating from the University of Alabama in 1988.
He served on active duty with the 5th Infantry Division, 5th Forward Support Battalion as a platoon leader and deployed with an element that participated in Operation Just Cause in Panama in 1989.
After leaving active duty, Brig. Gen. Jurasek joined the Civil Affairs community in 1994, where he has held positions to include: Headquarters Company Commander, Combined Joint Civil Military Task Force Ports and Harbors Officer, Voter Registration and Polling Station Liaison Officer to the Organization for Cooperation and Security in Europe in Bosnia, the Assistant J-5 at Soto Cano Air Base Honduras, during Hurricane Mitch disaster relief, instructor of Civil Military Operations for the Free Iraqi Fighters in Tazar, Hungary, before the invasion of Iraq, and was the Chief Operations Officer of the Civil Military Operations Center in the Multinational Forces-Iraq Strategic Operations Center in Baghdad. He was also attached to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force during the first invasion of Fallujah.
Brig. Gen. Jurasek took command of the 402d Civil Affairs Battalion in Tonawanda, NY in 2008. Six months later, the 402d was re-stationed to Fort Buchanan in San Juan, PR. Brig. Gen. Jurasek deployed with the 402d in support of Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa, where he assumed tactical control of all Civil Affairs assets, and was able to expand Civil-Military operations throughout the region, resulting in an increased U.S. presence in the Horn of Africa and expanded partner nation capabilities.
After graduating from the Army War College in 2012, he served as the Assistant Chief of Staff G-3/5/7 of the 350th CACOM in Pensacola, FL. In 2013, Brig. Gen. Jurasek took command of the 1st Brigade, Atlantic Division, 75th Training Command at Fort Dix, NJ. Brig. Gen. Jurasek next served as the Deputy Commander of the 4th Expeditionary Sustainment Command in San Antonio, Texas, and deployed with the unit to Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield. During this deployment he was notified of his nomination for promotion to brigadier general and selection for command of the 352nd CACOM, which he assumed in July 2016.
His awards include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal (with four Oak Leaf Clusters), the Joint Service Commendation Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Commendation Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), among others.
Brig. Gen. Jurasek holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama in International Business, a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Alabama in Anthropology/Archaeology, a Master's Degree from Troy University in International Relations and a Master's Degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
Brig. Gen. Jurasek lives in Puerto Rico with his wife, Meleah.
