Colonel Malcolm McMullen was commissioned an Armor Officer in May of 1985. His first duty station was with the 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Carson, Colorado. There he served as a Tank Platoon leader, Scout Platoon Leader and Executive Officer within 2/35 AR Battalion. After completion of the Armor Officer Advanced Course Colonel McMullen was assigned to Fort Irwin, California. While at Fort Irwin Colonel McMullen elected to branch transfer to the Military Police Corps and was subsequently assigned to the Fort Irwin Garrison Command, Provost Marshal Office Section, as the Deputy Provost Marshal.
In 1990 Colonel McMullen was assigned to United States Army South in the Republic of Panama. From 1990-1994 Colonel McMullen served as an Assistant S3 in the 92nd Military Police Battalion and was selected to command the 534th Military Police Company. In 1994 Colonel McMullen left active duty and entered the individual Ready Reserve (IRR). During that time period Colonel McMullen worked as Probation Officer for the state of Florida, a crime Analyst for a local Police Department and a Public Information Officer for a County Sherriff’s Office.
In 2002 Colonel McMullen was recalled to active duty and was assigned to Central Command’s (CENTCOM) Joint Interagency Coordination Group (JIACG) as an Intelligence Officer. Colonel McMullen served at CENTCOM for 18 months. During that period Colonel McMullen coordinated security operations for Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and deployed to Iraq serving as JIACG LNO with the 10th Special Forces Group and 101st Airborne Division. In 2002 Colonel McMullen served as Training Developer and Instructor with the 84th Training Division followed by an assignment as the Provost Marshal with the 320th Garrison Support Unit located in In West Palm Beach Florida. In 2007 He took command of the 535th MP Battalion and was deployed to Camp Cropper in Iraq where he not only commanded the 535 MP Battalion but served as commander of Iraq’s Theater Interment Facility, After demobilization, Colonel McMullen was selected to support Army forensic capability development and spent 24 months as the TRADOC Deputy Capabilities Manager for forensics at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. After completing his assignment with TRADOC Colonel McMullen was assigned as the Deputy Commander for the 290th MP BDE. In 2013 Colonel McMullen was selected for Brigade Command of 290th Military Police Brigade. Currently Colonel McMullen is the Chief of Staff for the 200th Military Police Command.
Colonel McMullen is a native of Clearwater, Florida and graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he earned his degree in Criminal Justice. He is also a graduate of the U. S. Army War College, where he earned his Master’s degree in Strategic Studies.
Colonel McMullen’s military awards include the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal with an oak leaf cluster, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Combat Action Badge.
