Brigadier General Christie L. Nixon

Brigadier General Christie L. Nixon assumed command of the Military Intelligence Readiness Command on 1 August 2015, after completing a two year tour as Deputy Commanding General, US Army Intelligence and Security Command, Ft. Belvoir, VA. She has commanded at every rank except 2LT, including: HHSC, 147th MI BN, Ft. Snelling, MN; 216th Quartermaster Company (Force Provider), Mankato, MN; 11/100th MI BN, Ft. Huachuca, AZ; Det 3, 2500th MI Group, Jacksonville, FL; 2100th MI Group, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH; CENTCOM Army Reserve Element, Tampa, FL. Her staff assignments include: Displaced Persons Control Officer, 431st CA Co; Electronic Warfare Officer, 147th MI BN; S4 and S3, 134th MI BN (HVY DIV), Ft. Snelling, MN; Director of Enlisted Courses and Director of Instruction, 2/84th MI BN, Ft. McCoy, WI; Human Terrain Analysis Team Leader, CJTF-10, Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Commissioned in December 1982 by the Emporia (KS) State University ROTC program, she was initially branched as a Military Police officer and assigned to the 431st Civil Affairs Company in Little Rock, AR. She branch transferred to Military Intelligence after moving to Minnesota in 1987 for graduate school and transferring to the 147th MI BN (CEWI) at Ft. Snelling, MN.

Her military education includes the MP Officer Basic Course, Basic German Course, MI Advanced Course, Quartermaster Advanced Course, Master Fitness Trainer, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College, the Army War College, and Advanced Joint Professional Military Education.

BG Nixon’s degrees are: BS, Recreation, Emporia (KS) State University; BS, Biology, University of Arkansas at Little Rock; MS, Fisheries Biology, University of Minnesota; BS, Fire Science, University of Maryland; MSS, Strategic Studies, Army War College.

BG Nixon’s awards include the Legion of Merit (2 awards), Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Army Commendation Medal (4 awards), Army Achievement Medal (3 awards), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, and the Military Intelligence Corps’ Knowlton Award.

BG Nixon was a fisheries biologist for Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for nine years, and began her career as a full-time firefighter/EMT for the City of Minneapolis, MN in 2001.
