Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Jason E. Goodman assumed responsibility as the Command Sergeant Major of the 316th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) in Coraopolis, PA on 1 January, 2021. He serves as the senior enlisted adviser to the Commanding General on all enlisted Soldier matters, particularly the areas affecting readiness, training, safety, leader development, and Army Families.
CSM Goodman began his military career on 28 July 1993 when he enlisted into the United States Army. Throughout his military career, CSM Goodman has continued his dedication to Soldiers, serving in positions of increased leadership responsibility. He has held key NCO positions at every echelon of command: Lead Mechanic, Instructor Driver, Section Chief, Squad Leader, Motor Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Senior Maintenance Supervisor, Operations NCOIC, First Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major.
CSM Goodman has had a variety of duty assignments. He has served with the 1/17th Field Artillery Battalion (Active) Fort Sill, OK 1994, 123rd Main Support Battalion (Active) Dexheim, GE 1997, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment (Active) Bosnia 1998, 2nd Combat HET Company (Active) Fort Riley, KS 2000, 424th Maintenance Company (AGR) Springfield, MO 2001, 469th Medical Company (AGR) Wichita, KS 2002, 331st Medical Group (USAR) Wichita, KS 2006, Task Force 807 MED (USAR) Iraq 2010, 807th Medical Command (USAR), Seagoville, TX 2011, 89th STB (USAR) Kansas City, MO 2013, 484th MCB (USAR) Springfield, MO 2015, 89th Sustainment Brigade (USAR) Kansas City, MO 2018 and currently the 316th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary).
CSM Goodman is a graduate of the Nominative Leaders Course, US Army Sergeants Major Academy, Reserve Component Theater Sustainment Course, First Sergeants Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course and Primary Leadership Development Course.
His Awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal and the Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon.
CSM Goodman currently serves as the Staff Operations Training Officer for the 451st Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) in Wichita, KS in his civilian career.
He is married to the former Ms. Romy Tanner and they have five children and four grandchildren
