Command Sergeant Major Kevin J. Greene hails from the 85th Support Command based in Arlington Heights, Illinois where he previously served as the Operation Sergeant Major prior to his assignment as the Command Sergeant Major in August of 2012. CSM Greene is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He graduated John F. Kennedy High School in Chicago and enlisted in the United States Army on October 12th, 1977. He attended Armor One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Knox Kentucky. Upon completion of his training he was awarded the Military Occupational Specialty 19E, Armor Crewman. CSM Greene has served at every level of leadership from Tank Commander through Command Sergeant Major. His notable assignments included serving as the First Sergeant for Charlie Company 1/337 Training Battalion (Armor OSUT), 85th Division Training; Charlie Company, 1/339 Training Battalion (Infantry OUST), 84th Division Training; and Alpha Company, 17th PSYOP Battalion. CSM Greene has served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 17th PSYOP Battalion, the 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion and the 2-337th Training Support Battalion, First Army, Division-East. CSM Greene deployed to Iraq from April 2003 to April 2004 as the Command Sergeant Major of the 432nd Civil Affairs where the battalion served first as the Civil Affairs asset for the 1st Marine Division and then as the Civil Affairs asset for the 82nd Airborne Division. Upon his return from Theater, CSM Greene was again mobilized as the Command Sergeant Major, 2-337th Training Support Battalion, 205th IN BDE, First Army, Division-East, Camp Atterberry, IN. CSM Greene’s military education includes the Armor Crewmen Course, the Basic Infantry Course, the Lithographer Course, the Basic Non-commissioned and Advanced Non-commissioned Officer’s Course, the Drill Sergeant Course, the First Sergeant’s Course, and the U.S.A. Sergeants Major Academy. CSM Greene’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, five Meritorious Service Medals, five Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, nine Army Reserve Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with the Gold Hour Glass, the M Device and the Numeral Two, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Naval Presidential Unit Citation, the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Superior Unit Award, the Drill Sergeant Badge and the Combat Action Badge. CSM Greene has worked as a Military Technician since 1994 in various positions. He is currently serving as the Staff Operations and Training Specialist (SOTS) for the 85th Support Command from 2007 to Present
