Brigadier General Kelly Wakefield

Deputy Commander

200th Military Police Command

General Wakefield is a native of western Pennsylvania.  After graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology in 1985, she was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police through the Reserve Officer Training Corps.  In August 2014 she assumed duties as the Deputy Commanding General, 200th Military Police Command, responsible for mission command of over 14,000 Soldiers in 44 States. 

Brigadier General Wakefield began her military career at the Military Police Officer Basic Course at Fort McClellan, Alabama.  Her active duty assignments include Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Confinement Facility Commander, Military Police Company, Fort Gordon, Georgia;  Detachment Commander and Provost Marshal, U.S. Army Military Police Detachment, Camp Page, Korea;  Company Commander and Battalion S3, Sacramento Recruiting Battalion, Sacramento, California;  and Regular Army Operations Chief, 6th Recruiting Brigade, Fort Baker, California.

Brigadier General Wakefield’s Reserve assignments include:  S1, 4th Brigade, 104th Division, Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, Dublin, California; Law and Order Operations Officer, 313th Military Police Detachment, Las Vegas, Nevada; and Provost Marshal (Individual Mobilization Augmentee), Military Police Battalion, Camp Zama, Japan.  She was deployed on active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II as Strategic Operations Protection Officer, Multi-National Force-Iraq, Baghdad, Iraq.  She then completed assignments as Commander, 314th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Las Vegas, Nevada; Commander, 96th Military Police Battalion (Internment/Resettlement), San Diego, California; Deputy Commander, 11th Military Police Brigade, Los Alamitos, California; and Deputy Chief of Staff, G3, 79th Sustainment Support Command, Los Alamitos, California.  Her previous assignment was Commander, 300th Sustainment Brigade, Grand Prairie, Texas.  

Brigadier General Wakefield’s military education includes the Military Police Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Senior Transportation Officer Qualification Course, Theater Sustainment Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College, Advanced Joint Professional Military Education, and the U.S. Army War College.

Brigadier General Wakefield’s awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with 2 oak leaf cluster), Army Commendation Medal (with 2 oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with 2 oak leaf clusters), Iraq Campaign Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and Army Recruiter Badge.

Brigadier General Wakefield earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Georgia Southern College and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.  In her civilian capacity, she is the Chief of Market and Mission Analysis for the U.S. Army 6th Recruiting Brigade and resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.
