Command Sergeant Major Robert Stanek assumed the duties of command sergeant major of the 416th Theater Engineer Command on 01 August 2012. His previous command sergeant major assignment was with the 372nd Engineer Brigade out of Fort Snelling, Minn. CSM Robert (Bob) Stanek, a Mandan, N.D. native, enlisted in the active Army in April, 1975 after graduating from Mandan High School in 1974. He received an Associate of Arts degree from Bismarck Junior College (Bismarck, ND) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from North Dakota State University at (Fargo, ND) and lives in Lino Lakes, Minn. (North St. Paul, MN area). He is married to Carol (Greene) Stanek and has two daughters: Kennedy and Courtney. CSM Stanek was a Senior Technical Service Engineer for 3M Abrasives Systems in St. Paul, MN. He also works as an internationally qualified and nationally certified Volleyball referee, working the 1996 Summer Olympic Games at Atlanta, GA as a Beach Volleyball scorekeeper and 2000 Summer Olympics Games at Sydney, Australia as a Beach Volleyball court manager. In 36 years of military service, CSM Stanek has graduated from several military schools, including the following courses: Field Artillery Basic, Unit Maintenance Parts Clerk, Military Police Basic, Primary Leadership Development, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer, Advance Non-Commissioned Officer, Master Fitness Trainer, Military Interrogator, Battle Focused Instructor Training, First Sergeant Course, the Sergeant Major Academy and the Military Resistant Anti-Mine Protection Vehicle training. CSM Stanek served in numerous Non-Commissioned Officer leadership positions, while spending time in all three components: Active Army, Army National Guard and the Army Reserves. His previous assignments include: Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant for the 191st Military Police (Guard) Company, Mandan, ND; Senior Instructor (SFC) for 3rd Military Police Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 84th Division (Institutional Training), Inkster, MI; First Sergeant for 79th Military Police (Escort) Company, Rochester, MN; Battalion Chief Instructor (SGM) for 3rd Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 84th Division, Inkster, MI; Command Sergeant Major for 4226th US Army Hospital, Fargo, ND; Command Sergeant Major for 439th Engineer Battalion, Bismarck, ND; and the Command Sergeant Major for 367th Engineer Battalion in St. Cloud, MN. Deployments tours in Saudi Arabia/Kuwait (Opn Desert Shield/Storm from 1990-11 thru 1991-05), Germany (Opn Joint Guardian from 1999-09 thru 2000-05), and Afghanistan (Opn Enduring Freedom from 2009-09 thru 2010-11).
