Maj. Gen. Windsor S. Buzza

Commanding General, 63rd Readiness Division

Major General Windsor Shane Buzza assumed command of 63rd Readiness Division in Moffett Field, CA on 27 September 2025. Prior to this assignment, he served as Chief of Staff, U.S. Army Forces Command in Fort Bragg, NC from September 2022 through September 2025. His previous assignments include Wartime Chief of Staff for Eighth Army in Camp Humphreys and Yongin, Republic of Korea 2020-22, Commanding General, 91st Training Division, Fort Hunter Liggett, CA 2018-2020, and Deputy Commanding General, 84th Training Command, Fort Knox, KY.

MG Buzza received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in Field Artillery from the United States Military Academy on 25 May 1988. His Regular Army assignments include various positions with 7/15 Field Artillery, 7th Infantry Division (Light) in Fort Ord, CA from 1988 to 1991, including Operation Just Cause in Panama, 1989. He transitioned to the U.S. Army Reserve in October 1991, and following the events of September 11, 2001, he served two stateside tours in support of Operation Noble Eagle totaling 43 months. He has participated in 13 multinational exercises in the INDOPACIFIC (Japan and South Korea) from 2013 to 2020.

His military training includes Panama Jungle Warfare Course, Airborne School, Field Artillery Basic and Advanced Courses (Honor Graduate), Multifunctional Logistician (90A) Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College, Advanced Joint Professional Military Education, U.S. Army War College (Distance Education), Army Strategic Education Program Basic and Advanced, and the National Defense University CAPSTONE course.

During cadet summer training in 1986 he earned the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge in Augsberg, West Germany, from the Federal Republic of Germany’s 565 Panzer Artillerie Battalion. His other awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit x3, Meritorious Service Medal x8, Army Commendation Medal x8, Army Achievement Medal x4, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Parachutist Badge and the Order of Saint Barbara Medal for Field Artillery. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from West Point, Master of Physical Therapy and Master of Arts in Physical Education from California State University, Fresno, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania.

During 20 years of his Army Reserve service, MG Buzza and his former spouse ran a small business providing in-home physical rehabilitation services on the Monterey Peninsula on the central coast of California. He is an avid triathlete and marathoner, and enjoys flying and skydiving. He has two adult sons, Zac (writer) and Jacob (actor).
