Command Sgt. Maj. Robert J. LaTour

Command Sergeant Major, 9th Mission Support Command

Command Sergeant Major Robert LaTour enlisted in the US Army in 1995 as a Military Police Soldier and assigned to 571 Military Police Company, at Fort Lewis, WA.  In 1997 he deployed in support of Operation Joint Guard/Endeavor.  In 1999 Command Sergeant Major LaTour was promoted to Sergeant and served as a Team Leader in the 571 Military Police Co. and left the active duty in 2000. 

CSM LaTour re-enlisted for the U.S. Army Reserve in 2000, assigned to the 2122 Military Police Det at Fort Lewis, WA where served as a squad leader and promoted to Staff Sergeant in 2002.   While assigned to the 2122 MP LE Detachment he was mobilize twice, first in 2001 under Operation Noble Eagle, and again in 2003 under Enduring Freedom; both mobilizations served in a law enforcement and force protection capacity at Fort Lewis, WA. 

CSM LaTour reclassified as a Civil Affairs Specialist in 2004, assigned to 448 CA BN, JBLM as a Tactical Civil Affairs Team Sergeant.  He deployed with B/448 CA BN to Sadr City, Iraq in 2005, supporting 4/101 Curahee and the US State Department’s Baghdad Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT).  He was promoted to Sergeant First Class in 2006 and to then to Master Sergeant in 2008.  CSM LaTour deployed again to Iraq in 2008, assigned to the 401 Civil Affairs BN, Webster, NY where he served as a Team Leader, again in Sadr City, Iraq supporting 1-6 IN, 1st AD and 2-5 CAV, 1 CAV Div. 

In 2009 CSM LaTour assumed responsibility of the 493 Military Police Co (IR), Joint Base Lewis-McCord and in 2011 returned to Civil Affairs as the 1SG of C/448 CA BN.  In 2012 CSM LaTour was promoted to Staff Sergeant Major and was assigned to the 351 Civil Affairs Command, Mt. View, CA where he served as the G3 Sergeant Major. 

In 2013, CSM LaTour was assigned to the 416 CA BN (A), San Diego, CA where he served as the Operations Sergeant Major and interim Command Sergeant Major of an airborne battalion.

CSM LaTour was later selected to serve as the Battalion CSM for 448 Civil Affairs BN at Joint Base Lewis-McChord between 2014-2017.  Reassigned again to the 351 CACOM, Mt. View, CA where he served as the interim Command Sergeant Major.  CSM LaTour’s most recent assignments have been as the Command Sergeant Major for the 358 CA BDE, Riverside, CA and the 301 Maneuver Enhancement BDE, JBLM, WA. and today serves at the 9 Mission Support Command, Command Sergeant Major.   

CSM LaTour is a 2013 graduate of Central Washington University earning a BA in Administrative Management and in 2017 he earned a Masters degrees in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University, CA.  His awards include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), Combat Action Badge, Air Assault, Parachutist Badges, and Ivory Coast (foreign) Parachutist Wings. 

CSM LaTour is married to the former Stacey Farr of Tacoma, WA and together they have three children: 2LT Emma LaTour (USA), SPC Hannah LaTour (USAR), and PFC Gabriel LaTour (USAR).  CSM LaTour’s civilian employment is with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, WA where he serves as a patrol supervisor.
