Col. Clifton Kyle

Commander, 353rd Civil Affairs Command

In 2001, Colonel Clifton C. Kyle graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research and commissioned as a U.S. Army Officer. He was assigned to B/2-505th PIR, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Liberty, NC as an Airborne Infantry Rifle Platoon Leader. While in this position, in successive years, COL Kyle deployed his platoon to both Afghanistan and Iraq as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, respectively. Upon returning to Fort Liberty post-deployments, COL Kyle served as Executive Officer, B/2-505th PIR, 82nd Airborne Division. In 2005, COL Kyle was reassigned to 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Red Cloud, Korea as the Assistant G3. 

COL Kyle left active duty in 2006 and joined the U.S. Army Reserve as an Observer Controller Trainer with the 75th Battle Command Training in Houston, TX. He served in this position for four years supporting multicomponent command posts mobilized and deployed. After completing the Civil Affairs Qualification Course, COL Kyle continued military service includes various assignments such as Company Commander, 451st Civil Affairs Battalion, Ellington Field, TX; Executive Officer, 451st Civil Affairs Battalion, Ellington Field, TX; G9, 377th, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base – New Orleans, LA; Battalion Commander, 457th Civil Affairs Battalion, Grafenwoehr, Germany; Chief of Staff, 351 CACOM, Mountain View, CA; and G3, ACoS, 353 CACOM, Fort Wadsworth, NY. Most recently, COL Kyle just completed Brigade Commander, 354th Civil Affairs Brigade, White Plains, MD.

COL Kyle's military schooling and training includes Infantry Captain's Career Course, Civil Affairs Qualification Course, Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Ranger Course, Jumpmaster Course, Intermediate Level Education Course, Stability, Security, and Development in Complex Operations Course, Reserve Component National Security Course, and the United States Army War College. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Achievement Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Ranger Tab.

In addition to his Bachelor of Science degree, COL Kyle received a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Texas A&M University, a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston.

COL Kyle is a proud father of four beautiful daughters that are all destined to have a positive worldly impact. His oldest daughter, Kennedy, is currently studying at UCLA; Kendall is an All State 100m hurdlers and All-American selected cheerleader; Karsyn is a Dance Team National Champion; and Kourtlyn is one of only two students chosen to participate on both the middle school cheer and dance teams.
