Command Sgt. Maj. Anthony Childs' military career began in 1995 as a Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment repairer in the Army Reserve. CSM Childs holds a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies from Excelsior College, and a master's degree from both Strayer University (Master of Business Administration) and the University of Saint Francis (Masters of Science in Training and Development).
CSM Childs served as a Basic Combat Training Drill Sergeant and First Sergeant in a number of Army Reserve Drill Sergeant Battalions, and as the Acting CSM of the 1st of the 518th INF REG in Asheville, N.C.
His other assignments include Command Sergeant Major of the 11/108th out of Concord, N.C., as well as the CSM for the 2/311th OC/T Bn out of Fort Liberty, N.C.
CSM Childs awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (four oak leaf clusters), and the Army Achievement Medal (three oak leaf clusters). He has earned the Basic Parachute badge along with the Drill Sergeant Badge.
