BG Katherine Trombley earned a commission in the Quartermaster Corps through the University of Washington ROTC program in June of 1996. Upon completion of the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course in Fort Lee, VA, her first duty station was in Baumholder, GE, with the 47th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Armored Division. Since then she has served in both active and reserve units; 25th Forward Support Battalion, 25th Infantry Division; 4th Brigade, 91st Training Support Division; Seattle Recruiting Battalion; 70th Regional Support Command; 494th Brigade Support Battalion; 311th Expeditionary Sustainment Command; and 364th Expeditionary Sustainment Command.
BG Trombley deployed to Afghanistan with the CENTCOM Material Recovery Element, 82nd Sustainment Brigade, 1st Theater Support Command Forward, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Preceding her deployment her most recent assignments include; G3/5/7 Strategic Planner, Office of Chief of Army Reserve; Joint Staff, J8, Personnel Protection Branch Chief; J8 Directorate, Executive Assistant; Battalion Commander, 11th Battalion Army Reserve Careers Division; interim Brigade Commander, Army Reserve Careers Division; G33 Current Operations Director, Office of Chief of the Army Reserve; Executive Officer to the Chief of the Army Reserve and Commanding General, United States Reserve Command; Africa Affairs Central Africa Country Director and Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, Office of the Secretary of Defense Policy; Deputy Commanding General, Army Reserve, Combined Arms Center.
BG Trombley holds a Masters in Strategic Studies, U.S. Army War College and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Seattle Pacific University. Her military education includes; Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course; Combined Arms and Services Staff School, ILE Core and Advanced Operations Course; Support Operations Course; Joint Logistics Course; and Joint Flag Officer Warfighting Course. She is also a Fellow of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI Program.
