1SG David Fink was born and raised in Minnesota and upon graduating high school he attended the University of Minnesota where he enlisted in the Army in 2002. 1SG Fink attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Shortly after completion of initial training, 1SG Fink deployed as part of the initial invasion into Iraq. He would deploy to Iraq two more times in 2004 and 2008 and to Afghanistan in 2012. 1SG Fink has held every NCO leadership position from Team Leader to First Sergeant with additional duties as the interim Battalion Command Sergeant Major. In his previous AGR assignments he has served as a recruiter, HHC Training NCO, Battalion Operations NCO, and most recently the USARC G-3/5/7 Engineers Senior Engineer NCO.
1SG Fink’s military education includes Company Commander and First Sergeants Course, Master Fitness Trainer, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education, Joint Engineer Operations Course, USAR Training Manager and Training Plan Development Course, Master Leader Course, Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officer Course, Mission Command Digital Master Gunner Course, Army Recruiter Course, Master Resiliency Trainer, Air Assault School, Airborne School, Security Managers Course, Physical Security Officer Course, Antiterrorism Officer Basic Course and many others. 1SG Fink holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and an Associates of Arts in General Studies.
1SG Fink’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award), Army Commendation Medal (8th award), Army Achievement Medal (9th award), Army Good Conduct Medal (3rd award), the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, Basic Parachutist, Air Assault, Army Recruiter Badge, Wheeled Driver Badge, Gold German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, Bronze de Fleury Medal, 3 Meritorious Unit Citations and an Army Superior Unit Award.
1SG Fink is married to his wife, Katie and has two children, Makenzie and Everett.
