Command Sergeant Major H.H. George Luedtke entered the United States Army Reserve on 23 October 1993 from San Francisco, CA. He completed Basic Combat Training at Ft. Jackson, SC and Advanced Individual Training at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Ft Bragg, NC.
CSM Luedtke’s first assignment was as a Private First Class in A Company, 445th Civil Affairs Battalion at Oakland Army Base, CA. CSM Luedtke has held every enlisted leadership position from squad leader to Command Sergeant Major. CSM Luedtke most recently served as the Command Sergeant Major of the 86th Training Division at Ft McCoy, WI. The 86th Training Division executes direct action focused collective training for US Army Reserve units in austere combat conditions.
CSM Luedtke’s service includes deployments as a peacekeeper in Haiti and Bosnia, combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, service in Thailand and Korea, and twelve rotations at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Ft. Polk, LA. CSM Luedtke’s most recent deployment was as the CSM of the 311th ESC in support of operations in CENTCOM across Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and the Arabian Peninsula.
CSM Luedtke’s military schools include the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare School Civil Affairs Specialist Course; all levels of Non-Commissioned Officer’s Education System including the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy and the Nominative Leader’s Course; Total Army Instructor Course and Small Group Instructor Course; USAR Pre-Command Course, Surface Deployment and Distribution Command Battalion and Brigade Pre-Command Course, US Navy Logistics Over the Shore Operations Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course, and the 84th Training Command OC/T Academy.
CSM Luedtke’s significant awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with Service Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with 3 Service Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Numeral “3”, “M” Device, and Silver Hourglass, United Nations Medal (Haiti), NATO Medal with Service Star, Combat Action Badge, and Driver’s Badge. CSM Luedtke is a member of the Order of the Spur, a recipient of the Transportation Regimental Order of St. Christopher, the Association of Quartermasters Honorable Order of St. Martin, and earned the German Armed Forces Silver Marksmanship Badge (Shutzenschnur).
CSM Luedtke holds a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College.
CSM Luedtke is a Patrol Sergeant in the San Francisco Police Department with additional duties as a Hostage/Crisis Negotiator and Academy Instructor. He has received a Lifesaving Award, two Crisis Intervention Awards, and numerous unit citations and Captain’s Complimentary Reports.
