COL Paul Kuettner is a native of Leominster, Massachusetts and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. He was commissioned in 1996 into Military Intelligence.
COL Kuettner’s Active Duty assignments include serving as an Assistant S2, Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer (Bosnia), and Assistant S3 in the 1st Cavalry Division. Upon assignment to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment in 2001, he served as a J2X Operations Officer (Kosovo) and 3rd Squadron S2 (Iraq).
In 2004, COL Kuettner entered the Army Reserve and was assigned to USASMDC / ARSTRAT to serve as the Counterintelligence Officer and later as the G2 Section Chief. In 2011, he joined the USNORTHCOM Army Reserve Element, where his duties included Psychological Operation Officer, Information Operations Intelligence Officer, Information Operations Branch Chief, and Commander. He joined the 76th Operational Response Command headquarters in 2015 and served as the Deputy the Command Inspector General. In his last assignment, he commanded the 4th Brigade (MI), 102d Training Division (MS), and he briefly served as the G2 for the 80th Training Command (TASS).
COL Kuettner’s awards and badges include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5), Army Achievement Medal, Air Assault Badge, Army Basic Space Badge, Inspector General Identification Badge, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and the Valorous Unit Award.
COL Kuettner is a Joint Qualified Officer. His military education includes the Army War College (Superior Graduate), Defense Support to Civilian Authorities Phase II, The Inspector General School, Joint Combined Warfare School - Hybrid, Information Operations Officer Course (Distinguished Graduate), Intermediate Level Education, Space 200, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Military Intelligence Captain Career Course, Counterintelligence Officer Course, Scout Platoon Leader Course, and the Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course.
In COL Kuettner’s civilian career, he was a financial planner for First Command Financial Planning, a defense consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, and currently works as a federal employee for NORAD and USNORTHCOM as a Military Information Support Operations planner. His civilian education includes a BS in Environmental Engineering from West Point, an MBA in Management from the University of Colorado, and a master’s in strategic studies from the Army War College.
COL Kuettner is married to his wife Heather Lynn of Colorado Springs, Colorado and they have two daughters, Addie and Amelia, and one dachshund, Rosie.
