Brigadier General Colin J. Morrow serves in a dual capacity as the Deputy Commander of the 84th Training Command and the Deputy Commanding General for the Mobilization Force Generation Installation at Fort Knox, Kentucky. In these critical leadership positions, he is responsible for processing, training and deploying trained, ready forces for Large-Scale Combat Operations to support Geographic Combatant Commanders, while also overseeing the 84th Training Command’s premier training events, the Warrior Exercises and Combat Support Training Exercises; immersing units in realistic, complex operational environments to prepare them to support global campaigns.
Brigadier General Morrow commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army on July 6, 1995, after graduating from Officer Candidate School. His career is marked by a series of significant command and staff assignments across various units. His command assignments include serving as the Commanding General of the 91st Training Division at Fort Hunter Liggett, California; Commander of the 259th Expeditionary Military Intelligence Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; Commander of the 38th Regional Support Group in Cross Lanes, West Virginia; and Commander of the Mobilization Force Generation Installation at Fort Hood, Texas. Earlier in his career, he commanded the 378th Military Intelligence Battalion and a Military Intelligence Detachment with the 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne).
Brigadier General Morrow has extensive operational and deployment experience. He commanded the Headquarters and Support Company, 2d Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) during OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM in Iraq; serving as the S-2 for the same battalion during deployments to Afghanistan for both OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM; and as an Intelligence Officer with the Kosovo Force during OPERATION ALLIED FORCE in Macedonia and Kosovo.
Brigadier General Morrow holds a Master of Arts in International and Comparative Politics from Wright State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Rutgers University. He is a United States Army War College graduate where he earned a Master of Science in Strategic Studies. His military education includes the Military Intelligence Officer Basic and Advanced Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Reserve Component National Security Strategy, the United States Army Command and General Staff College, and the Advanced Joint Professional Military Education course.
Brigadier General Morrow’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), Combat Action Badge, and the Parachutist Badge
