COL Christopher “Bryan” Riley hails from Goose Creek, SC. His most recent assignment was as the Assistant Chief of Staff (ACOS), G-4, of the 335th Signal Command (Theater) in East Point, GA.
Prior to his assignment at the 335th Signal Command, COL Riley served in a variety of leadership roles across the Active Component (AC), Troop Program Unit (TPU), and Drilling Individual Mobilization Augmentee (DIMA) programs of the United States Army Reserve.
As a TPU Officer, he served as a Small Group Instructor for the Command and General Staff College in Owings Mills, MD; S-3 for the 2nd Brigade (TC), 94th Training Division (FS) at Fort Gregg-Adams, VA; Battalion Commander of the 359th Transportation Battalion (Terminal) at Fort Eustis, VA; and as the ACOS, G-4, of the 335th Signal Command (Theater) in East Point, GA.
As a DIMA, he served as the Brigade Operations Officer for the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), 597th Transportation Brigade, at Fort Eustis, VA; Chief of Operations for the Department of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security at Fort Eustis, VA; and as a Faculty Instructor in the Department of Distance Education at the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA.
While on active duty, COL Riley held multiple roles within the 7th Transportation Group, 6th Transportation Battalion (Truck), including Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, Battalion S-4, and Battalion S-3 (Operations Officer). He deployed twice to Iraq in support of combat operations.
COL Riley earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy and commissioned into the Transportation Corps in 2000. He holds a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Old Dominion University (2004) and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College (2019).
His military education includes completion of the Transportation Officer Basic Course, Transportation Captains Career Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Unit Movement Officer Course, Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) Officer Course, Defense Hazardous Materials Packaging Course, and the Command and General Staff College’s Common Core and Advanced Operations Course.
His awards and decorations include the two Bronze Star Medals, two Meritorious Service Medals, four Army Commendation Medals, the Army Achievement Medal, four Army Reserve Component Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Air Assault Badge. He is also a recipient of the Transportation Order of Saint Christopher.
In his civilian career, COL Riley serves as the Director of Operations and Chief of Staff for the Provider Mobility Business Unit at Cisco Systems. He holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations certification, is a graduate of the Cisco Consulting Development Program, and holds a Cisco Security Green Belt Certification.
He and his wife, Chamie, reside in Kingston, TN, and have four children: Katherine, Rachel, Jesse, and Hannah.
