BG William Wilkerson

Deputy Commanding General, 79th Theater Sustainment Command

BG William Wilkerson was selected as the 79th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC) Deputy Commanding General on 1 April 2023.  The 79th TSC provides mission command and operational-level sustainment support to USARAF / AFRICOM, Army, Joint, and Multinational Forces in support of unified land operations. BG Wilkerson encourages simplicity, creativity, and believes in rapid implementation of solutions to drive improvements. 

Previous assignments include: OCAR Chief Data Integration Officer, (Fort Belvoir, VA); Deputy to the USARC Deputy Commanding General, (Fort Bragg, NC); Chief of Staff, Deployment Support Command (Birmingham, AL); Commander, 643rd Regional Support Group, (Columbus, OH); Commander, 646th Regional Support Group (Madison, WI); Commander, 687th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, (Wausau, WI); Mobility Branch OIC, 310th Sustainment Command Expeditionary (Indianapolis, IN); 102nd Division G4 Logistics Officer, (Ft Leonard Wood, MO); Assistant Mobility Branch OIC, 4th Sustainment Command Expeditionary, (Kandahar, Afghanistan);  Battalion Executive Officer, 2-397 Infantry Regiment (Lexington, KY); Battalion S3 Operations Officer, 2-398 Infantry Regiment (Owensboro, KY); Company Commander, Charlie Company 2-398 Infantry Regiment (Owensboro, KY); Executive Officer, 308th Transportation Company (Arifjan Kuwait); Assistant S4 Logistics Officer, 524th Corps Support Battalion, (Schofield Bks, HI); and Platoon Leader, 25th Transportation Company (Schofield Bks, HI).

BG Wilkerson completed the Army War College in 2017 earning a Masters in Strategic Studies.  His previous professional military education includes the Advanced Joint Professional Military Education Course, the Advanced Warfighter Operations Course, Intermediate Level Education Course, Combined Service Staff School, the Transportation Officer Advanced Course, and the Transportation Officer Basic Course.

BG Wilkerson’s many awards and decorations include the Bronze Star with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, several Army Commendation and Army Achievement Medals, the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, the Combat Action Badge, the Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge.

BG Wilkerson enlisted in the Army shortly after graduation from high school and upon completion of Basic Training deployed to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Storm. After returning to the United States, BG Wilkerson received a Green to Gold Scholarship to attend college at the University of Tampa where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army Transportation Corps.  In 2008, BG Wilkerson completed his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) Degree from Chaminade University, Honolulu, HI. 

BG Wilkerson and his wife, Debra, have been married for 25 years. They have three children: Lee, William, and Mary Jane.
