Command Sergeant Major Stroud is a native of western Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted into the regular Army as a Cannon Crewmember (13B) and completed One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Ft Sill, Oklahoma. During his active-duty service, he was stationed in Hanau, Germany, Fort Knox, Kentucky and Schweinfurt, Germany. He transitioned from active duty into the reserve component upon completion of his active-duty obligation and re-classed as a Human Resource Specialist (42A). He was assigned to various units including the 380th CRC in Bothell, Washington and 1/414 Regiment (Brigade Combat Team) in Renton, Washington where he spent three years as a Drill Sergeant and Senior Drill Sergeant. He transitioned to the Active Guard and Reserve program in March of 2007 as an Army Reserve Recruiter (79R).
Command Sergeant Major Stroud’s assignments include Seattle Recruiting Battalion, Beckley Recruiting Battalion, 1st Brigade, 98th Division (Ft Benning, Georgia), Columbus Recruiting Battalion, and United States Army Recruiting Command Headquarters. His duty assignments include United States Army Reserve Recruiter, Military Entrance Processing Station Guidance Counselor, Battalion Operations Noncommissioned Officer, Brigade Senior Operations Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Company First Sergeant (Kings Mills Recruiting Company, Mason Ohio), United States Army Recruiting Command G3 Production & Analysis Sergeant Major, and the Richmond Recruiting Battalion Command Sergeant Major. He has completed all NCOES Leadership schools and is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 69.
Command Sergeant Major Stroud has received numerous awards and decorations throughout his career including the Glenn E. Morrell Excellence in Recruiting Medallion. He is a graduate of the Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Drill Sergeant School, Battle Staff, Master Resilience Training, MRT L2, and several operational and functional courses. CSM Stroud holds a BS in Liberal Arts from City University of Seattle and an associate degree in Criminal Justice.
