Command Sgt. Maj Todd Kaim is a native of Schaumburg, Illinois; he enlisted in the United States Army in April of 1988 as an Infantry Man. After attending Infantry OSUT and the Mechanized Infantryman Course at Ft. Benning GA, he served with 1st BN, 15th IN REGT, 3rd IN DIV at Kitzingen, Germany. In August 1990, he reported to 5th BN 16th IN REGT, 1st IN DIV at Fort Riley, Kansas. CSM Kaim deployed with 1st IN DIV in support of Operation Desert Shield Desert Storm in December of 1990.
CSM Kaim left active service in 1992 and after two years he joined the United States Army Reserves and the Reserve Drill Sergeant Program. CSM Kaim deployed with a Military Transition Team supporting OIF 2/3, and the 1st and 4th IN Divisions, at Camp Caldwell, Kirkush, Iraq. He mobilized January 2009 as Company First Sergeant for Alpha Company 1st BN 330th IN REGT and 3rd BN 330th IN REGT, 198th IN BDE. Upon selection to CSM he served with 2-349th LSB 188th CATB Ft. Stewart Ga,1st BDE 104th DIV (IT) Aurora Co, G 3/7 108th TC Charlotte NC, and currently the 98th DIV CSM Ft. Benning Ga.
CSM Kaim’s professional military education includes all leadership courses and is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy class 63 as well as the Nominative Leaders Course 2021. During his service CSM Kaim has served as Rifleman, Gunner, Drill Sergeant, Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Company First Sergeant, BN/ BDE CSM and Training Command SGM. CSM Kaim has made a lasting and positive impact, on both future and current, soldiers of the Infantry and Army by striving for excellence and his desire to continually affect others for good.
CSM Kaim’s awards include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Basic Parachutist’s Badge, Drill Sergeants Badge, the Meritorious Service Medal (3nd Award,) Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, with 3 oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal, with 4 oak leaf clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal (2nd Award,) Southwest Asia Service Medal, with 2 campaign stars, Iraqi Campaign Medal, one campaign star, Global War on Terror and Service Medals, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, with Mobilization Device and Bronze Hourglass, the Army NCO Professional Development Ribbon, with number 5, Army Service Ribbon, Kuwaiti Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia,) with Palm, and the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal. CSM Kaim is also a member of the Order of Saint Maurice.
CSM Kaim resides in Peachtree City Georgia and works for Delta Airlines. He is father to two daughters Hailey and Grace Kaim.
