Brig. Gen. Heather Reuter

Commanding General, Army Reserve Sustainment Command

Brigadier General Heather Reuter joined the Army Reserve Sustainment Command, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, on January 20, 2023.  The California native commissioned in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Quartermaster Officer after graduating from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1996. 

Prior to her current assignment, Brig. Gen. Reuter served as the commanding general of the 75th Innovation Command based in Houston, Texas; chief of staff, 364th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Marysville, Washington, from 2020 to 2021; commander, 2nd Brigade, 95th Training Division, Vancouver, Washington, from 2018 to 2020; student, Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS), Norfolk, Virginia, from 2017 to 2018; commander, 418th Quartermaster Battalion (Petroleum Supply), Marana, Arizona, from 2015 to 2017. Other assignments include S-3, 1st Brigade, Pacific Division, 75th Training Division, Garden Grove, California; executive officer, 371st Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, March Armed Forces Reserve Base, California; team leader, 75th Training Division (Battle Staff), Garden Grove, California; staff observer controller trainer, 75th Training Division, (Battle Staff), Garden Grove, California; Commander, 316th Quartermaster Company (Water Supply), Oceanside, California; S1, personnel officer, 419th Quartermaster Battalion (Water Supply), Irvine, California; commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 419th Quartermaster Battalion (Water Supply), Irvine, California; platoon leader, 316th Quartermaster Company (Water Supply), Oceanside, California.

Brig. Gen. Reuter is a graduate of the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, the Transportation Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, and the Command and General Staff College. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace and a Master of Aeronautical Science Studies both from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  Additionally, she holds a Master of Science in Joint Campaign Planning and Strategy from the Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS) at the Joint Forces Staff College.

Personal awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (5), Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal (4), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with silver hourglass and M device, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Training Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, and Overseas Service Bar.

Brig. Gen. Reuter lives in Southern California with her husband, Rick.  In her civilian career, she works for a private aerospace company in California.
