Brig. Gen. John M. Dunn

Deputy Commanding General (Operations), 200th Military Police Command

Brig. Gen. John M. Dunn began his military career as an enlisted military policeman in the United States Army Reserve in 1992. He received his Regular Army commission in the Military Police Corps through the Xavier University ROTC program in 1996 as a Distinguished Military Graduate. He then served as a platoon leader in Korea and Fort Campbell, KY before serving on the 716th Military Police Battalion staff. After transitioning from Active Duty to the Army Reserve, Brig. Gen. Dunn was assigned as the Battalion Logistics officer for the 478th Engineer Battalion where he deployed to Iraq in 2003.

Brig. Gen. Dunn has served in a variety of Command and Staff roles including Company Commander, Battalion Operations Officer, Battalion Executive Officer, and Brigade Logistics Officer. From 2012 to 2013 Brig. Gen. Dunn commanded the 2-398 Cavalry Squadron before serving as Brigade Operations Officer for the then 3rd Brigade of the 95th Division (IT). From 2014 to 2016, he served as the Commander of the 159 MP BN (CID) in Terre Haute, Indiana followed by service as the Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer for Kentucky and attended the National War College from 2017 to 2018. Brig. Gen. Dunn served as the Foreign Military Sales Case Manager for the Ministry of Interior Military Assistance Group in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 2019 to 2020. Brig. Gen. Dunn then assumed command of the 290th Military Police Brigade in Nashville, TN from 2020 to 2022. He previously served as Chief of Staff of the 200th Military Police Command from September 2022 through 2024.

Brig. Gen. Dunn assumed responsibilities of the Deputy Commanding General (Operations) of the 200th Military Police Command in August 2024. Included among his awards and decorations are the Meritorious Service Medal (8 OLC), Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.

Brig. Gen. Dunn is a graduate of the National War College. He is a partner in the Reminger Co. LPA law firm where he practices in both Kentucky and Ohio. He and his wife Emily have three children.
