Brig. Gen. Kelly Hagenbeck

Commanding General, 87th Training Division

Brigadier General Kelly Hagenbeck was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Florida State University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. A Military Graduate of the ROTC program, he was commissioned in the Army Reserve, in the Transportation Corps. Brigadier General Hagenbeck holds a Master of Arts in Executive Leadership from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA, Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, PA and Master of Management from the University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL. His military education includes the Transportation Officers Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms Service Staff School, Multifunctional Logistics Course, Command & General Staff College, United States Army War College, Advanced Joint Military Professional Education, Reserve Components National Security Course, and the Defense Support of Civil Authorities Course.

Brigadier General Hagenbeck assumed command of the 87th Training Division at Birminham, Alabama, on 04 June 2022. Brigadier General Hagenbeck has commanded at all levels to include Commander of the 518th Sustainment Brigade, Knightdale, NC; Commander of the 1182nd Deployment & Distribution Support Command, North Charleston, SC; Commander for the 352nd Transportation Supervision Team (TST), Jacksonville, FL; Commander of the 489th Transportation Company in Jacksonville, FL; Commander, 505th Transportation Detachment, Gainesville, FL.

Other assignments include: Trainmaster, 416th Transportation (Rail) Battalion, Jacksonville, FL; Platoon Leader and Executive Office, 489th Transportation Company, Jacksonville, FL; S-2, 1186th Transportation Terminal Brigade, Jacksonville, FL; Assistant Support Plans Officer (Asst. SPO), Standing Joint Force Headquarters, JFCOM, Norfolk, VA; S-3, 257th Transportation Battalion, Gainesville, FL; Executive Officer of the 2nd Battalion 485th Regiment of the 98th Division (IET); Assistant Chief of Staff – G2 for the 143rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Orlando, FL; Deputy Chief of Staff, 108th Training Command, Charlotte, NC; Support Operations, 79th Theater Support Command, California. Los Alamitos, California; Chief of Staff, 85th Army Reserve Support Command and the Deputy Commander of the 4th Expeditionary Sustainment Command.

Mobilizations and deployments include OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, Turkey, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Kuwait, OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, Norfolk, VA and Afghanistan and most recently for the nation’s CORONAVIRUS Response, Fort Sam Houston, TX.

Brigadier General Hagenbeck’s awards and decorations include the Combat Action Badge, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (eight oak leaf clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (four oak leaf clusters), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Army Achievement Medal (one oak leaf cluster).

Brigadier General Hagenbeck is married to the former Sandy Jordan of Mary Esther, Florida. They have two adult children, Corey and Katelyn.
