Major General Jeff M. Farris

Commanding General U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (ABN)

Major General (MG) Jeff M. Farris assumed duty as the Commanding General of U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) (Fort Bragg, NC) on May 17, 2026. Prior to his assignment he served as the Deputy Director J-3 / Special Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Africa Command (Stuttgart, Germany); Commanding General of the 352nd Civil Affairs Command (Fort Meade, MD); and Deputy Commanding General of the 108th Training Command.


A native to New Orleans, Louisiana, MG Farris enlisted in the U.S. Army in May of 1988, 205th Engineer Battalion, Louisiana Army National Guard. In August 1991, MG Farris completed Officer Candidate School (OCS) and received his commission as a Military Intelligence Officer. His initial assignment was with the 415th Military Intelligence Battalion where he served as the Interrogation of Prisoner of War (IPW) Platoon Leader.


MG Farris transferred to the Army Reserve in 1994 as a Counter Intelligence officer, later becoming the Company Commander of Bravo Company, 321st Military Intelligence Battalion. In 2001, MG Farris deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and JTF-170 as Company Commander. After serving as the Assistant G-2, 85th Infantry Division, he joined the 308th Civil Affairs Brigade.


In 2007, MG Farris deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, as the S-3, 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion and Chief of Operations (G-9) for the 4th Infantry Division. Upon his return, he became the SOCSOUTH Team Chief/Planner for the 350th Civil Affairs Command. He commanded both the 402nd Civil Affairs Battalion, Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico, and the 450th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne), Riverdale, Maryland. After his assignment in the J-5, U.S. Special Operations Command, MG Farris served as the Brigade Commander for the 304th Civil Affairs Brigade.


MG Farris’ education includes a Masters in Strategic Studies from the Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a Minor in Marketing and Economics from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His awards include the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster, Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.


In his civilian career, MG Farris is a Director of Financial Services for Databricks, Inc., a data and AI software company based in San Francisco, California. He and his wife, Dr. Karen Farris have two daughters Olivia and Emiliana.
