COL Adim Yousif, Chief of Staff, 85th United States Army Reserve Support Command, began his military career in 1989 and has served in numerous positions both enlisted and commissioned. He has served in the Regular Army, Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve.
COL Yousif started his military career as an enlisted Air Traffic Controller, serving at Fort Benning, Georgia and the Republic of South Korea. He then transitioned from the Regular Army to the National Guard and served as a combat medic in Illinois. After receiving his commission as an Air Defense Artillery Officer, he led numerous platoon and battery level units through Soldier and self-development. COL Yousif has supported the global war on terror through 4 lengthy deployments to Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kuwait and Iraq.
As a member of the Illinois Army National Guard, COL Yousif qualified as a multi-functional logistics officer and served in numerous key roles supporting the 108th Sustainment Brigade and the Joint Forces Headquarters. His assignments included JFHQ Deputy G3, RTI BN Commander, Deputy BDE SPO and STB BN CDR. COL Yousif also served as the Team Chief for an Observer Coach/Trainer Detachment with the 87th Training Division, USAR, supporting strategic exercises such as Guardian Response and WAREX. COL Yousif was assigned as the 85th Chief of Staff in June 2025.
COL Yousif earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Master of Business Administration degree from Illinois Benedictine University. He is also a graduate of the Air Defense Artillery Basic and Advanced courses, Multi-Functional Logistics Advanced course and the Command and General Staff Officers’ Course. COL Yousif has also earned numerous awards and decorations from his years of service and combat deployments.
COL Yousif is a native of Chicago, Illinois and currently resides with his wife Cheri in Cedarburg, WI.
