U.S. Army Reserve Chief Warrant Officer 5 Ronald G. Nevers is the Command Chief Warrant Officer for the 85th U.S. Army Reserve Support Command, headquartered in Arlington Heights, Illinois. He serves as the principal advisor to the Commanding General on Warrant Officer Matters. He is committed to improving individual Soldier and unit readiness across the command through a positive and consistent Warrant Officer mentorship program that leverages the talents, skills, and contributions of the Warrant Officer cohort and develops leaders at all levels.
A native of Connecticut, Mr. Nevers enlisted in the Army in February 1986. He began his career as a light wheel vehicle mechanic in the Army Reserve where he served with the 773rd Transportation Company in Fairfield, Connecticut. Mr. Nevers joined the active component in January of 1992 serving with HHC, 1/7 Infantry Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division Aschaffenburg, Germany; HHC 3rd Infantry Division Wurzburg, Germany; 11th Chemical Company Fort McClellan, Alabama.
In April 1995 Mr. Nevers rejoined the Reserve Component serving with the 334th Military Police Company, 325th Military Intelligence Battalion. In March of 2000 Mr. Nevers transitioned to the Warrant Officer ranks.
Mr. Nevers’ assignments as a Warrant Officer include 325th MI Battalion Motor officer/ Platoon leader in East Windsor Connecticut. Company Commander/Auto Maintenance technician for the 304th Transportation Company, Chicopee, Massachusetts. 533d Brigade Support Battalion (BSB) Mr. Nevers’ primary role was Maintenance Officer he was also the Safety Officer, Fort Totten, NY. At the 533d BSB Mr. Nevers did two short tours one with the 1st Battalion Army Reserve Careers Group to help with Warrant Officer Recruitment in Fort Devens, Massachusetts and one with the 302d MEB/76th task force to help with maintenance for their CR2E mission Chicopee Massachusetts, Senior Ordnance Ground Maintenance Warrant Officer, and Safety Officer, 411th Engineer Brigade New Windsor, New York.
Mr. Nevers holds a Bachelor of Science from Post University, currently pursuing a master’s in business administration. Mr. Nevers also holds industrial certifications in refrigeration repair and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in Medium-Heavy Truck. Mr. Nevers has completed all levels of the Warrant Officer Education System culminating with the Warrant Officer Senior Service Education course.
His awards include the Army Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
