81st Readiness Division

Brigadier General Bob Krumm is the Deputy Commanding General for the 81st Readiness Division located on Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina. The 81st Readiness Division has responsibility for base operations for Army Reserve units through the South Eastern United States and Puerto Rico, and is responsible for ensuring units and Soldiers are prepared to deploy and fight in multi-domain operations and meet current and future Combatant Commander Force requirements.

Bob has served in a variety of Engineer, Armored Cavalry, and Operations Research assignments through his years of service. His commands include the 301st Forward Engineer Support Team-Main (FEST-M), the 926th Engineer Battalion, and B Troop 1-7 Cavalry. His staff assignments have included being the Deputy Reserve Commander of the Corps of Engineers' North Atlantic Division, an Operations Analyst at US European Command, and an Engineer Plans Officer at US Pacific Command. He also was a Military Fellow on the Chief of Staff of the Army’s Strategic Studies Group.

In 2008 Bob mobilized and deployed as an operations analyst in support of XVIII Airborne Corps to Baghdad, Iraq. Bob deployed again from 2009-2010 with JIEDDO in support of the 1st and 34th Infantry Divisions in Basrah, Iraq.

His education includes a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He also holds a Master of Science in Management of Technology from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor of Science from West Point.

His awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the Bronze Order of Saint George.

In his civilian career, Bob is an Operations Analyst on the Headquarters Air Force staff and is the founder and managing member of the Bavarian Bierhaus, a Munich-style beer hall in Nashville. Bob splits his time between Washington, DC and Nashville, where he lives with his wife, the former Catherine “Cookie” Cook. They have three children: Caroline, Connor, and Henry.
