Brig. Gen. Maria A. Juarez

Deputy Commanding General-Support, 88th Readiness Division

 Brigadier General Juarez received her commission from the Reserve Officers Training Corps, University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus in 1992. As a distinguished military graduate, she was selected to serve in the Quartermaster corps as a Regular Army Officer. For over 25 years, Brigadier General Juarez served in multiple staff positions at all echelons, including Office of the Chief of Army Reserves, Division, and Major Subordinate Command levels.

Brigadier General Juarez’s first assignment as a second lieutenant was with the 5th Quartermaster Rigger Detachment in Frankfurt Germany serving as a Rigger Platoon Leader, and later as the Executive Officer, during Operation Provide Promise, a joint humanitarian airdrop into Bosnia Herzegovina. She also served as the Materiel Manager Officer for the 200th Theater Army Materiel Management Center in Kaiserslautern, Germany. From April 1997 to January 1999 Brigadier General Juarez served as the Logistics Automation Staff Officer at the Combined Arms Support Command in Fort Lee, Virginia. Her last Active Duty assignment was as a Petroleum planner assigned to the 8th Army in Seoul, South Korea.

In August 2000 she joined the Army Reserves. From August 2000 to March 2004, Brigadier General Juarez served in various positions of increasing responsibility culminating as the Director for Personnel and Administration while assigned to the former 166th Area Support Group, before she was handpicked to stand up and command the Warrior Transition Unit, Installation Management Agency at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico from April 2004 to June 2006. From July 2006 to October 2013 Brigadier General Juarez served as a Chief for the Maintenance Division, Deputy G4 and later as the Deputy Chief of Staff, G4, in the Army Reserve Medical Command, a two star headquarters in Pinellas Park, Florida. Brigadier General Juarez then served as Joint Planner for the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command in Norfolk, Virginia and was later assigned to the Office of the Chief Army Reserves at Fort Belvoir, Virginia as a Director, Force Programs Mobilization before being selected to command the 166th Regional Support Group, Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico. She commanded the 166th RSG from July 2017 – December 2018 before deploying the 166th to Afghanistan where she served as the Commander for the Regional Support Group – Kabul Base Cluster, from January through September 2019 in Kabul, Afghanistan. Immediately after command, Brigadier General Juarez was selected to serve with the U.S. Central Command, located in MacDill Air Force Base, as the Deputy Plans Chief for Iran Branch.

Her military awards and decorations include a Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, six Meritorious Service Medals, an Army Commendation Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (6th award), National Defense Service medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service medal with silver hourglass and M device, Humanitarian

Service Medal, Army Overseas Service Ribbon (with numeral 4), NATO Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Public Health Service Unit Citation, Army Staff Identification Badge, Parachutist Badge, Parachute Rigger Badge, French Parachute Badge, and others.

Brigadier General Juarez’s has a Master degree in Strategic Studies and also Master degree in Information Systems from Central Michigan University. She is also a graduate of the Army War College, completed Joint Professional Military Education and the Army Force Management Course.
