Mr. Michael Giersch

Command Executive Officer, 76th Operational Response Command

Michael A. Giersch assumed the position of Command Executive Officer (CXO) for the 76th Operational Response Command in August 2011. As the Command Executive Officer, Mr. Giersch's duties include providing executive leadership, management and oversight of personnel, plans, programs and policies within the 76th Operational Response Command.

Prior to assuming duties as the CXO of the 76th ORC, he served as the Supervisory Staff Administrator for the 89th Sustainment Brigade in Wichita, Kansas. Mr. Giersch has held several civilian positions throughout his career which include: Supervisory Staff Operations and Training Officer, Management Analyst, and Staff Operations and Training Specialist with the 89th Regional Readiness Command; and Staff Administrative Assistant with the 331st Medical Group. Mr. Giersch began his Military Technician Career as a Unit Administrator.

Mr. Giersch also serves as the G3/5/7 Sergeant Major for the 76th Operational Response Command. Sergeant Major Giersch has served in various assignments throughout his career in the Army Reserve. He has held several key NCO leadership positions including the Command Sergeant Major for the 209th Regional Support Group,  the Command Sergeant Major for the 89th Sustainment Brigade, the Command Sergeant Major for the 387th AG Battalion in Wichita, Kansas, Staff Sergeant Major and Operations NCO for the 89th Regional Readiness Command in Wichita, Kansas, First Sergeant of the 917th Corp Support Group in Belton Missouri; First Sergeant of the 331st Medical Group in Wichita, Kansas, and Platoon Sergeant for the 469th Medical Company in Wichita, Kansas. Sergeant Major Giersch also served as a Cavalry Scout and Drill Instructor with the 5th Cavalry Brigade. In support of the Global War on Terror, Sergeant Major Giersch deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004-2005 as the First Sergeant for the 917th Corp Support Group. 

Giersch’s awards and decorations include the Superior Civilian Service Award, the Bronze Star Medal , the Meritorious Service Medal 2 Oak leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with 1 Silver Oak Leaf Cluster and 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal with Service Star, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device and Gold Hourglass, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with “5“ affixed, the Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Bar. His Badges include the Combat Action Badge, the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, the Drivers Badge, the Expert Marksmanship Badge and Army Physical Fitness Badge.
