Brig. Gen. Cutchin is the commanding general of the Army Reserve Aviation Command (ARAC) located at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Cutchin is a native of Marianna, Florida. He began his Army career enlisting in the regular Army in 1984. In 1992, he graduated from Florida A&M University as the Army ROTC distinguished military graduate and commissioned as an aviation officer. After completing flight school in 1993 he completed active duty aviation assignments with the 1st Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Katterbach, Germany, and the 3D Aviation Brigade, 3D Infantry Division, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.
In September 2000, Brig. Gen. Cutchin transitioned to the Army Reserve where he served in numerous assignments. His assignment highlights include S3 of the 3/415th Infantry Regiment (BCT), Spokane, Washington; Deputy Branch Chief, Airfield Operations, United States Army Aeronautical Services Agency, Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Intermediate Level Education (ILE) Instructor, 10th Battalion, 80th Training Command, Fort Meade, Maryland; Joint Planner, J35 Directorate (Global Force Management), The Joint Staff-South, Norfolk, Virginia; LNO to the 82nd CAB, Bagram, Afghanistan; Battalion Commander and senior Observer, Controller/Trainer (OC/T), 2/ 346th Training Support Battalion, 177th Armor Brigade, First Army-East, Commander, 244th ECAB, Fort Dix, NJ, and TF Warhawk, Taji, Iraq.
Brig. Gen. Cutchin most recently served as the Chief of Staff, ARAC, Fort Knox, Kentucky. In his civilian career, he recently retired as a federal law enforcement officer having served as a special agent for the United States Secret Service, special agent for the Department of Energy, Office of the Inspector General, and special agent for the Department of Justice, Office of the Inspector General. Brig. Gen. Cutchin’s education includes graduation from the Aviation Officer Basic Course, Aviation Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms Services Staff College, Command and General Staff College (ILE), Advanced Joint Professional Military Education (AJPME), and the Army War College distant education program.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida A&M University and Masters of Science degrees from Troy University and the Army War College. He is a Senior Army Aviator rated in the UH-60L and the C-12U/V.
Brig. Gen. Cutchin has been married to his wife Sandy, an Army veteran, for over 30 years. They have two sons, Jarod of Sykesville, Maryland and Justin of Panama City, Florida.
