First Sergeant Juana M. Sauceda

First Sergeant Sauceda is a native of Weslaco, Texas. She enlisted into the U.S. Army Reserve in September of 1999. In July 2000, she attended Basic Training in Fort Jackson, SC and Advanced Individual Training to become a 68J, Medical Logistics Specialist at Fort Sam Houston, TX.

Her first assignment was with the 145th Medical Logistics Battalion in Seagoville, TX. While with the 145th she was ordered to active duty and served honorably in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Her positions with the 145th included Medical Logistics Customer Support NCO, Item Management NCO, Stock Control NCO and Squad Leader.

In March of 2003, she left the 145th as a Sergeant and joined the 354th Medical Logistics Company, in Seagoville, TX. During her time with the 354th she was activated in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, to Doha, Qatar, in which she served honorably throughout theater. She held the position of Storage NCO, Shipping and Receiving NCO, Stock Control NCOIC, and Platoon Sergeant.

In September 2009, she transferred from the 354th as a Staff Sergeant into 12th Battalion ARCG in Seagoville, TX. She re-classified into MOS 79V Army Reserve Career Counselor. Her positions with 12th Battalion included, Army Reserve Career Counselor, Officer Accessions Non Commissioned Officer, and Assistant Area Leader.

In July of 2015, she transferred from 12th Battalion to 1st Battalion ARCG as a Sergeant First Class. During her tenure with 1st Battalion she served as an Army Reserve Career Counselor, and Command Career Counselor in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

In July of 2018, she transferred duty locations within 1st Battalion to Fort Totten, NY as a Master Sergeant. During her time in Fort Totten, NY she served as the Area Leader.

In July of 2020, MSG Sauceda transferred to the NCO Academy Fort McCoy to serve as the academy First Sergeant.

1SG Sauceda has completed Primary Leadership Development Course, Combat Life savers Course, Information Assurance Security Officer Certification Course, Basic Non Commissioned Officers Course for 68J, Army Reserve Career Counselors Course, Senior Leadership Course for 79V, Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course, and Modern Army Combative Course Level I and Level II, Battle Staff, and DLC Level V.

Her awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 bronze oak leaf cluster), the Army Commendation Medal (3 bronze oak leaf clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (4 bronze oak leaf clusters), the Good Conduct Medal (3rd award), the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (3rd award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal (silver hourglass) (M device) (number 2 device), the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (number 3 device), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (number 2 device), the NATO Medal, Drivers Badge, and the Career Counselor Badge.

1SG Sauceda has completed a Bachelor in Science Degree in Interior Design from the School of Architecture at the University of Texas Arlington. In addition to being an Active Guard Reserve Soldier, 1SG Sauceda and her husband have four sons.
