352nd Civil Affairs Command

Command Sergeant Major George H. Conklin is the Command Sergeant Major of the 352nd Civil Affairs Command (CACOM), Ft Meade, Maryland. CSM Conklin began his military career in 1987 attending Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training as a Combat Engineer at Ft Leonard Wood, Mo.

He was assigned to A-Co, 307th Engr. Bn., 82nd Airborne Division from 1987 to 1990. He deployed on Operation “Golden Pheasant” and “Just Cause” while assigned there. In 1991, he was recalled from the IRR as a Combat Engineer and served during operation “Desert Shield/Storm”. In 1992 -1993 he returned back into the Army Reserve, and he served as member of a Scout Infantry Platoon with the 3/35th Combat Support Company. He transferred to the CT National Guard in 1993 and reclassified as an Infantryman, serving as a Squad Leader in C-Co, 1/102 Inf BDE. In 1995, he returned to the Army Reserve and was assigned to the 422 Civil Affairs Bn (A) and attained the Civil Affairs (CA)MOS. He served as a CA Sergeant from 1995 to 1997. In 1998, he attended the USAR Drill Sergeant School and graduated Distinguished Honor Graduate while assigned to the 1/485th Inf Regt, 108th Training Command. He served as a Drill Sergeant from 1998 to 2006. In September 2006, he was mobilized and deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom and served as the NCOIC of the 2-2-1 National Police Transition Team until December 2007. From 2008 until 2009, he served as the 1SG for B-Co, 3-518th Inf Regt. From 2009 to 2010, he was mobilized to Task Force Marshall, Ft Jackson, SC. serving as the 1SG of B-Co, TFM. He then transitioned to serve as the Bn S-3 NCO for an additional year. He was then assigned to the 108th Training Command, serving as the G-5 NCO from October 2011 to October 2013. He was promoted to the rank of CSM in November of 2013 and was assigned to the 1-313th LSB Bn, Ft Bragg, NC. He served with that unit until its inactivation in August of 2015. He then served as the CSM of the 422 CA Bn (Sep 2015 to Apr 2017), the 360th CA BDE (May 2017 to Jan 2020) the 354 CA BDE (Feb 2020 to Apr 2022). He was selected in May 2022 and currently serves as the 352nd CACOM CSM.

His military education include graduate of the USASMA, Army First Sergeant Course, Drill Sergeant School, and Basic Airborne Course. Successful completion of the Small Group Instructor course, and Army Master Resiliency Course. He has acquired the following Military Occupational Skills, Combat Engineer (12B), Infantryman (11B), and Civil Affairs specialist (38B).

CSM Conklin’s awards and decorations include The Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal (5), the Army Commendation Medal (4), the Armed Forces Expeditionary Badge with Bronze Arrowhead, Iraqi Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, Parachutist Badge with Battle Star, Drill Sergeant Badge, Honduran Parachutist Badge, and the Winfield Scott gold medallion.

CSM Conklin is a graduate of Lincoln Jr/Sr High School in Lincoln, Rhode Island. He has attained his BA. Degree in Liberal Sciences from Purdue Global University. He currently resides in Greensboro, NC.
