Colonel Sujet was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1968. He enlisted in the Army in 1987 and
attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina as a Fire Direction Specialist (13E). He
received his commission from the University of Illinois at Chicago ROTC and was commissioned
a Second Lieutenant in 1990 and graduated in 1991. His military education includes completion
of the Artillery Officer Basic Course, Transportation Officer Advanced Course, the Combined
Arms Services and Staff School, the Command and General Staff College, and the Army War
College. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from the University of Illinois at
Chicago, and a Master in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
Prior to his current assignment, he served in a variety of command and staff positions, most
recently serving as the Chief of Staff of the 311th ESC. He completed brigade command as the
Commander of the 757th Expeditionary Rail Center. Prior to brigade command he served as the
Support Operations Officer and Assistant Chief of Staff, G4 at the 103rd Sustainment Command.
He served as the Executive Officer of the 206th regional Support Group. Colonel Sujet deployed
as the Commander of the 419th Movement Control Battalion in support of Operation Enduring
Freedom X and XI in 2010. He served as the Battalion Commander of the 757th Transportation
Battalion (Rail) and the Rear Detachment Commander of the 766th Transportation Battalion.

Commander, 757th Transportation Battalion in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; Battalion S4,
757th Transportation Battalion; Commander of the 1150th and 1151st Transportation Companies,
757th Transportation Battalion; Commander, Detachment 2, 1152nd Transportation Company;
Commander, Service Battery, 7/1st Artillery; Executive Officer, B Battery, 7/1st Artillery, and Fire
Direction Officer, B Battery, 7/1st Artillery.
Colonel Sujet’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious
Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army
Achievement Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Army Reserve Component Achievement
Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal third award, the Armed
Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War
on Terrorism Medal, the Afghan Campaign Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M”
device, silver hourglass, and numeral device; the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Overseas
Service Ribbon, the NATO ISAF Medal, and the Airborne Badge.
Colonel Sujet is a residential contractor and owner of Josef Sujet Painting and Decorating and
resides in Medinah, Illinois with his wife DeAnna.
