Command Sergeant Major Edward F. Simpson, a native of Chicago, Illinois enlisted in the United States Army Reserve as a Personnel Actions Specialist. Upon completion of Basic and Advanced Individual Training, his first assignment was with the 478th Personnel Services Company in Chicago, Illinois.
Throughout his career, Command Sergeant Major Simpson has served with; Personnel Services Company, Engineers, Military Police, Aviation, Military Intelligence, Transportation, Regional Support Command, Expeditionary Sustainment Command and Medical Service Corps. His most recent assignment was as the Command Sergeant Major for the 84th Great Lakes Training Division Fort Sheridan, Illinois. He is currently serving as the Command Sergeant Major of the 335th Signal Command (Theater).
Command Sergeant Major Simpson has deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, first with the 96th Military Police Battalion, San Diego, California, second with the 384th Military Police Battalion, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Simpson’s military education includes Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course, U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy and the Nominative Leader Course. He has completed Facility Management, Training Management, Logistics Management, Advanced Retention Course, Personnel Management, Instructor Training, Organizational Leadership for Executives, “How the Army Runs” Course, Senior Leader Awareness Training and Continued Education for Senior Leaders.
His awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (with two Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (with two Silver Clusters), National Defense Service Medal (with Bronze Service Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Gold hourglass and M2 device), Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (with five affixed), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (with two Campaign Stars), Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Army Superior Unit Award.
In his civilian career, Command Sergeant Major Simpson serves as the Command Executive Officer for the 412th Theater Engineer Command in Vicksburg, Mississippi where he is responsible to the Commanding General for the day to day management, supervision and oversight of the command. Command Sergeant Major Simpson resides in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science with concentrations in Administrative Management, Human Resources and Psychology from Excelsior University.
