Colonel John “Todd” Johns, a Montana native currently living in Virginia, was commissioned in the Adjutant General Corps in 1990 while graduating from The University of Montana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration – Financial Management. He also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration and an Executive Masters degree in Public Administration from Syracuse University.
Colonel Johns currently serves as the Deputy Commanding Officer of the 316th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary). His previous assignments include Chief of Staff and G-8 of the 316th ESC while deployed, Director of the 398th Financial Management Support Center, Fort Belvoir, VA; Director of Personnel, G-1; Comptroller, G-8; 7th Civil Support Command, Kaiserslautern, Germany. Prior to a deployment to Kuwait 2007-08, he held progressive assignments within G-8, HHC Commandant, and Adjutant for the 7th Army Reserve Command (ARCOM) in Schwetzingen, Germany. Prior to relocating to Germany, he was the Financial Management Systems Officer for the 70th Regional Support Command, Seattle, WA. He commanded the 379th AG (Postal) Company, Portland, OR and 235th AG Replacement (CONUS) Company, and HHC, 380th AG Replacement Battalion (CONUS), Bothell, WA.
Colonel Johns’ mobilized active duty assignments include Executive Officer, 316th ESC (MNC-Ku), Camp Beuhring, Kuwait and Director of Personnel and Community Operations, ASG Falcon, Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo.
Colonel Johns’ awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters); the NATO Service Ribbon; Kosovo Campaign Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He is a graduate of the Adjutant General Officer Basic Course, Transportation Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, and Command and General Staff College.
Colonel Johns and his wife, Julie, have been married more than 23 years and they have two children.
