Command Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey L. McGlin was appointed the Interim Command Sergeant Major of the 88th Readiness Division, Fort McCoy, Wis., on March 17, 2018.
McGlin joined the U.S. Army Reserve on Dec. 27, 1981. He began his career as an Ammunition Storage Specialist with the 395th Ordnance Company (DS), Appleton, Wis. In 1995 he served with the 633rd Area Support Group as Ammunition Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge. On June 1, 1999, he became the First Sergeant of the 998th Quartermaster Company, Junction City, Wis. He attended the resident phase U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy (USASMA), Fort Bliss, Texas. In December 2002 he was selected to the rank of Sergeant Major and served as the G4 Sergeant Major for the 416th Engineer Command, Darien, Ill., upon graduation from USASMA. He was selected for Command Sergeant Major on June 1, 2004.
McGlin’s Command Sergeant Major assignments at Fort McCoy include 1/338th Training Support Battalion, 2/411th Logistical Support Battalion, and the 181st Infantry Brigade, 1st Army Division West. He also served as Command Sergeant Major for the 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion, Green Bay, Wis., and the 308th Civil Affairs Brigade, Forest Park, Ill. In July 2016 he took a position as Sergeant Major of the Standards and Evaluations Branch, Warrior Care and Transition, U.S. Army Medical Command, Arlington, Va. He is currently Command Sergeant Major of the 364th Press Camp Headquarters, Fort Snelling, Minn., while also serving as the Interim Command Sergeant Major of the 88th Readiness Division.
His military campaigns include Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal 2nd Award, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal 6 Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal 2nd Award, the Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, the Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon Numeral 3, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon Numeral 4, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Bronze hour glass and M device.
McGlin has completed all levels of Non-Commissioned Officer Education System to include USASMA-Class #53, Command Sergeant Major Course, First Sergeants Course, and Self-Structured Development – V. His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from Mount Senario College and a Masters of Business Administration in General Management from Touro University International.
He is married to Judy McGlin and together they have three children. They reside in Forest Junction, Wis.
