Major General Stephen E. Strand assumed command of the 412th Theater Engineer Command in Vicksburg, MS on 10 February 2019.
Major General Strand was born in Rochester, Minnesota. He earned a Bachelors of Aerospace Engineering and received an Army ROTC Commission from Auburn University in June 1987. He later earned a Masters of Aerospace Engineering from The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Major General Strand has completed Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses; the Nuclear Biological and Chemical Defense Course; the Unit Movement Officer Deployment Planning Course; courses in Real Property Master Planning; courses in Military Systems Acquisition; the Reserve Component Theater Sustainment Course; and the Senior Transportation Officer Qualification Course. He has completed the Combined Arms Services and Staff School; the Command and General Staff Course; the Advanced Joint Professional Military Education Course; a 2012 graduate of Army War College; and the Army Strategic Education Program Basic Course.

Major General Strand is married and has three children.
