COL Michael G. Kauffman was born on April 9, 1969 in Brunswick, ME. He entered active duty in 1993, receiving his Regular Army commission to the Medical Service Corps immediately after graduating from the Salisbury State University College Bachelors of Administration in Business Administration. Upon completion of the AMEDD Officer Basic Course and the Medical Logistics Management Course, he began his career as Medical Logistics Officer.

COL Kauffman was married on July 10, 1993 to the former Tammy Sue Droneburg of Frederick, MD, who is a Registered Nurse. COL Kauffman has two children, son Cody and daughter Cassidy.
