Command Executive Officer

200th Military Police Command

Mr. Rodney S. Byrd Sr. is currently the command executive officer (CXO) for the 200th Military Police Command. Byrd joined the U.S. Army Reserve Military Technician program at the 377th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC), in September 2007. Upon entering the program, he was assigned as the staff operations training specialist (SOTS) in the mobilization cell within operations. Byrd’s primary duties focused on the sourcing of all logistics units within the Army Reserve.

In August 2008, Byrd accepted a lateral transfer to a SOTS position at the 787th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (CSSB) in Dothan, Alabama. Byrd was responsible for executing all tasks related to training and readiness. In the absence of a supervisory staff administrator (SSA), Byrd also filled in to manage staff.

In August of 2009, Byrd accepted a promotion to the job of SSA at the 314th CSSB in Las Vegas, Nevada. His primary tasks involved day-to-day management of the full time unit support (FTUS). In addition, Byrd was tasked to provide oversight and management to four subordinate units assigned to the 314th CSSB.

In June 2010, Byrd accepted a promotion to the job of SSA for the 926th Engineer Brigade at Montgomery, Alabama. In this capacity, he assumed control, on behalf of the Commander, of 55 distinct units spanning eight states and covering in excess of 5,400 Soldiers. As the manager of FTUS, he validated manning requirements, budgetary issues and policies for the command.

In September 2015, Byrd accepted the position as CXO of the 103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) (ESC) at Des Moines, Iowa. In this capacity, he was responsible for an area covering five states and 5,500 Soldiers and civilians.

In April 2018, Byrd accepted the position as the CXO of the 200th Military Police Command in Fort Meade, Maryland.

In his military position, Byrd is a lieutenant colonel and battalion commander for the 821st Transportation Battalion located in Topeka, Kansas.

Byrd is currently married to the former Maria Brown of Savannah, Georgia, since August of 1991. Their union has produced three children, Montrenese (US Navy-Bremerton, Washington), Rodney Jr (Mobile, Alabama) and Marissa (Fort Mitchell, Alabama).
