Command Sgt. Maj. Robert B. Potts

Command Sergeant Major, 76th Operational Response Command

Command Sergeant Major Robert Potts was born in Bridgeport, TX. He graduated from Hinton High School and entered the United States Army in January 1996.

Command Sergeant Major Potts has served in various leadership assignments both stateside and overseas, including Drill Sergeant and Platoon Sergeant 1/79 and 1/22 FA Ft. Sill, OK; Battle Staff NCO; Company and HHC First Sergeant; Course Manager and Chief Instructor, U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Academy, Ft. Jackson, SC; Operations SGM; BN and BDE CSM; Division CSM, 95th DIV Ft Sill, Ok; and currently serves as the DIV CSM for the 76th Operational Response Command out of Fort Douglas, Salt Lake City, UT.

His deployments include Guatemala and Panama for Task Force Moteugua, Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan, and Operation ROG 1 in the Republic of Georgia.

Command Sergeant Major Potts' military and civilian education include all levels of Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development, Master Gunner Course, Army Postal Operations Course, Drill Sergeant School, First Sergeant Course, Master Fitness Course, Combatives Level 1,2 and 3, Counter Insurgency Course, Combat Leaders Course, CSM Development Course, Pre-Command Course (BDE and BN Level), Force Protection and various Anti-Terrorism Schools, Total Army Instructor Training Course, Small Group Instructor Course, Transition Team Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course Level I and II. He graduated from the United States Army Sergeant Major Academy Class (41), Self Structured Development Level 6, Nominative Leaders Course from the Army War College, Defense Support of Civil Authorities Course, and Executive Space and Missile Defense Course. His civilian education includes Electrical Transmission and Distribution Engineering Course from OAEC. He also holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree with Honors in Management & Leadership with a Concentration in Global Business from Purdue University. His civilian employment is with CKenergy as a field engineer, and he is part owner and operator of Midwest Land and Associates. 

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award); Army Commendation Medal (5th award); Army Achievement Medal (7th award); Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (7th Award); Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal (with Bronze Service Star device); Afghanistan Campaign Medal (with Bronze Service Star device); Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Humanitarian Service Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal (w/ M devise and hourglass); NCO Professional Development Ribbon (w/ #5 device); Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Medal (2nd award); Army Reserves Overseas Training Ribbon; NATO (ISAF) Ribbon; German Schutzenschnur. He has also been awarded the Expert Marksmanship Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge. Order of Saint Barbara Medal and Combat Action Badge.
