Brigadier General Richard W. Corner II is a native of Quincy, Massachusetts. He currently serves as the Reserve Affairs Director, in the Assistant Secretary of the Army, (Manpower & Reserve Affairs) (IMA), Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army, Washington, DC. In this capacity, he provides advice to the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Manpower & Reserve Affairs on Reserve Component matters.
BG Corner has served in a variety of command, staff, and nominative positions to include, Headquarters Company Commander, 2nd Simulation Exercise Group, 78th Division; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Commander, United States Army Human Resources Command; Battalion Commander, 1st Battalion, Army Reserve Careers Division; S-3, 2nd Battle Command Training Group, 2nd Battle Command Training Brigade, 75th Division; Reserve Affairs Officer, United States Army Special Operations Command (Airborne); Integration Policy Branch Chief, Military Personnel Management Directorate, Military Personnel Enlisted Division, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1; General Officer Management Office, Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army; Deputy G-1, Office of the Chief of Army Reserve (OCAR); Army Reserve G-1, U.S. Army Reserve Command; and Assistant Chief of Staff at OCAR; and Commanding General, 85th U.S. Army Reserve Support Command in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
BG Corner’s other assignments include Platoon Fire Direction Officer Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery and as Brigade S-4 for the 75th Field Artillery Brigade.
BG Corner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Boston College, a Master of Arts in Management from Webster University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster), Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal (with two Oak Leaf Clusters).
BG Corner is married to the former Nicolle Kramer of Andover, Massachusetts and they have four children.
