Brigadier General Howard C. W. Geck serves as the Assistant Deputy Commanding General United States Army Reserve Command, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Brigadier General Geck, a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, received his officer training through ROTC and commission from the New Mexico Military Institute. Once commissioned, he served in the New Mexico Army National Guard as Platoon Leader and Battalion Staff Officer. Then he returned to the Army Reserve and served on the Battalion Staff, later holding key Quartermaster petroleum command assignments at the Detachment and Company levels. Subsequently, he worked as Operations Officer-S3, 3rd Battalion (SC) (TASS)/ 95th Division. Next as Government Relations Officer and for a short time as Assistant Chief of Staff-G5, 13th Corps Support Command, Ft Hood, TX. In 2003, he deployed to Tikrit, Iraq with the 64th Corps Support Group as Civil Military Operations Officer-S5. After the deployment, he served as Executive Officer and then Commander, 372nd Quartermaster Battalion. In 2008, he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq with the 326th Area Support Group as Mayor, East Liberty Base Camp, VBC. After the deployment, he served as Executive Officer, 647th Regional Support Group, El Paso, TX. In 2011, he deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait as Deputy Chief of Staff, 364th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary). For a brief time during this deployment, he was Deputy Commander, 642nd Regional Support Group, then Executive Officer, DCG-S ARCENT. Next he served as the Brigade Commander, 652nd Regional Support Group located at Ft. Harrison, MT, before serving as the Commander, 800th Logistics Support Brigade located in Mustang, OK. Afterward, he served as Assistant Deputy Commander for Support, 80th Training Command (TASS) located in Richmond, Virginia. Brigadier General Geck most recently served as the Commanding General 103rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, in Des Moines, Iowa. During the unit’s recent overseas deployment to Kuwait, he was the CG 103rd ESC and also served as the Deputy Commanding General to the 1st Theater Sustainment Command.
Brigadier General Geck holds Quartermaster, Civil Affairs, and Logistics branch designations. He is a graduate of the Quartermaster Basic and Advanced Courses, Civil Affairs Officer Advanced and Psychological Operations Officer Courses, Associate Logistics Executive Development Course, Defense Strategy and National Security Courses, Joint Senior Leader and Joint Logistics Courses, Senior Manager National Security Course, Brigade Command Sustainment Course, and Advanced Joint Professional Military Education Course. In addition, he is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College with a Masters in Strategic Studies and a Masters in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. He is also a recent graduate of the Senior International Defense Management Course.
Brigadier General Geck’s awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War On Terror Expeditionary and Service Medals, Parachutist Badge, and Distinguished Member of the Quartermaster Regiment.
