JOINT BASE McGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. - Pfc. Roberto Benitez from the 312th Tactical Psychological Operations Company (TPS), based in Upper Marlboro, Md., uses a steering wheel peripheral to drive a simulated vehicle using the Virtual Battle Space 3 (VBS3) Mounted Gunnery Trainer Plug-In during Operation Cold Steel III, hosted by the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operation Command at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., Oct. 30, 2018. Using this simulation, the Vehicle Crew Evaluator is able to train the Vehicle Commander (VC) and Gunner on individual and crew-coordination skills, engagement techniques, and targeting acquisition. Operation Cold Steel is the U.S. Army Reserve’s crew-served weapons qualification and validation exercise to ensure that America’s Army Reserve units and Soldiers are trained and ready to deploy on short-notice and bring combat-ready and lethal firepower in support of the Army and our joint partners anywhere in the world.
