Army Reserve Ambassador Gary C. Wattnem was the Sales Manager for the Americas for Reichert, Inc., a manufacturer of ophthalmic instruments where he had worked for over 30 years.  In 2004, he retired with 35 years of service in the US Army and US Army Reserve as a Major General.  He served in many command and staff positions in units around the Midwest.  Ambassador Wattnem holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from South Dakota State University.  He is a member and past president of the River City Kiwanis Club, a member of the Mason City, Iowa, Airport Commission, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Reserve Officers Association, Senior Army Commanders Association and various other organizations
