The Solution Sandstorm: 75th U.S. Army Reserve Innovation Command crystallizes partnerships during Project Convergence
U.S. Army Lt. Col. Andrew Miller (right), innovation officer with Support Group, 75th U.S. Army Reserve Innovation Command, discuss the best applications for the Deep Autonomous Reconnaissance & Targeting Sensing program with Jeffrey Houser (left), lead research scientist for DARTS at the Army Research Lab, and U.S. Army Maj. Johannes Halthen (second from left), division collection manager for the 1st Armored Division, March 7, 2024 in Fort Irwin, Calif. Miller collaborated with scientists and engineers from Army Research Lab to help them better understand the technical requirements and operational considerations when Army units deploy DARTS on the battlefield. Approximately 40 75th USARIC Soldiers converged at Fort Irwin to offer their military and technical expertise during Project Convergence Capstone 4, a U.S. Army hosted experiment that enabled warfighters from the United States and partner nations to test advanced systems that support multidomain operations. Many 75th USARIC Soldiers at PC-C4 specialize in robotics, machine learning and project management in their civilian careers, making them highly qualified to work alongside designers and end users to help improve various technologies from surveillance drones to autonomous rotorcraft.
